Product Design and Engineering

CADCode Systems supports multiple design environments.

Manufacturing is about making stuff, which is about making money. CADCode Systems offers reliable solutions that make the design-to-manufacturing process simple, efficient, and flexible.

There are multiple approaches to product design and engineering, from drawing on paper to CAD to using parametric formulas in a spreadsheet. Ultimately, these approaches distill into a set of mathematical data that describe the item to be manufactured and the processes required to shape and prepare it for finishing and assembly.

CADCode Systems lets you use one or more methods by supporting data import from multiple sources – a manually entered CSV table, a DXF or DWG CAD drawing, specialized cabinet, closet or kitchen design software, a database or spreadsheet tied to order entry, or a solid modeling program.

You don't have to draw it to make it.

Visualization is key to the design process. The typical approach is to draw what needs to be made and then convert that into product specifications and machining processes. However, many designers don’t realize it’s possible to go directly from conception to defining the product with mathematical formulas – the same formulas derived from a drawing.

CADCode's flexibility in importing data from many different sources allows you to link it to parts data coming from an end-user's spreadsheet, database, ERP system, and other source that bypasses the drawing process and go directly to processing the data for optimization, machine program generation, and label creation.

CADCode Systems has solutions to help you make stuff - and make money - whatever your product engineering and design approach. We prefer an open-systems approach that allows the user to determine what components work best for their manufacturing sytems. Check with us to see if your design and engineering software will work or can be made to work with CADCode.

CAD Software and ACAM

Integration with Third-party Programs

Integration with Third-party Programs

CADCode Systems works with third-party programs utilized for product design and creating part information. These might be a standard CAD program like AutoCAD or BricsCAD, a dedicated kitchen, closet, or cabinet design application, or a custom program.

Integration with Third-Party Programs

Choose the best components.

CADCode has always supported an open-systems approach: you select the best components for the work to be done and we supply the tools that make them work together as an integrated system. Having the ability to add or replace a component without having to redo the entire production system means greater longevity and less obsolescence. And far less cost if you don’t have to abandon expensive software or hardware components.

Integration with Third-Party Programs

One place to bring it all together.

CADCode’s central Control Panel merges data from multiple sources and manages the processes to be performed – optimizing, cutting, labeling, and machining. CADCode has successfully integrated software programs such as AutoCAD, BricsCAD, cabinet and kitchen design programs, True32, Keytrix, TopSolid and others, including spreadsheet, database, ERP, and custom front-ends. On the machinery side, we connect to hardware from manufacturers like Accu-Systems, Anderson, AXYZ, Biesse, Busellato, CNT Motion, Cosmec, Gannomat, Giben, Heian, Holz-Her, Holzma, Homag, IMA, Koch, Komo, Masterwood, Morbidelli, MultiCAM, Northwood, Omal, Onsrud, Schelling, SCMI, Selco, Shop-bot, Shoda, Thermwood, Tiger Stop, Twin CAM, Weeke and others.

CADCode, ACAM and CAD for Production

AutoCAD® by Autodesk, and BricsCAD®, by Bricsys, are computer-aided design and drafting software used by millions of professionals worldwide in a broad range of industries. The DWG and DXF file formats have become a standard for design work, and files are often exchanged between architects, designers, engineers, and manufacturers.

Make CAD more effective.

CADCode’s ACAM (Automated CAM Module), takes advantage of the power of these CAD standards to enhance production and automate your catalog and custom manufacturing. All types of design, labeling and machining information can be defined in BricsCAD or AutoCAD and transferred directly to CADCode for processing. ACAM integrates with CADCode’s collection of modular components for seamless nested-based and single part (work cell) manufacturing.

Quick drawing changes and batch processing.

ACAM eliminates the time-consuming task of defining and exporting individual DXF files. All parts for a product or an entire project can be contained in a single DWG (drawing) and then exported as a batch for manufacturing. ACAM’s two-way interface provides on-the-fly editing in AutoCAD or BricsCAD of machining on parts from any importable data source — this means you don’t have to backtrack to the source for temporary or last-minute changes or additions.

AutoCAD and ACAM

Simple and powerful layers.

Convert existing drawings or create new ones quickly and easily with standard AutoCAD/BricsCAD commands and ACAM’s simple yet powerful layering conventions that include part and machining geometry as well as material, quantity, part description, filename, run field and graining and other attributes.

Fast-track your tooling.

Enhance your productivity by using ACAM’s ToolPath Manager. The ToolPath Manager stores user-defined lead-ins, lead-outs and other tooling information for interactive attachment to part geometry, individually or as grouped sets for specific purposes. For example, you can create a set of predefined toolpaths for conference tables, solid-surface countertops, moldings, or stile-and-rail doors for easy “pick and click" insertion.

  • Integrates with all CADCode components for seamless programming of saws, routers and point-to-points
  • Automate DWG files for processing all manufacturing data
  • ToolPath Manager for interactive part programming and “pick and click” toolpath assignment
  • Process all parts for a product or entire project from a single drawing – no need to collect and process individual DXF files
